Why is it important to have a separate category for women? Asalyn knows the financial services industry has long been focused on married women, leaving out a demographic of single woman who have unique planning challenges. Since statistically women have longer life expectancy than men, most married women will find themselves living single at some point. The planning challenges that come from longer lifespans, lower pay rates, higher healthcare costs, tax disadvantages, and higher likelihoods of being family caregivers, must be addressed when planning for women.
